Paint and Sip in Redlands: The Drive to Purple Easel Is Worth It

Redlands is a town that takes its food, wine, and downtown culture seriously — so a quality paint and sip experience fits right in. The closest one is Purple Easel in Ontario, about 35 minutes west via the 10 or 210 Freeway. Here’s what to know if you’re planning a visit.

Getting from Redlands to Purple Easel

Take the 10 West to the 210 West (or stay on the 10) to Vineyard or Archibald in Ontario, then surface streets to Daybreak Plaza on Mission Boulevard. About 35 minutes without traffic. Free parking once you arrive.

Make It a Redlands-to-Ontario Evening

A few Redlands locals have mentioned to us that paint and sip pairs well with dinner before or coffee after at one of the nearby Ontario or Rancho Cucamonga spots — Victoria Gardens is 10 minutes from our studio if you’re already heading out that direction.

What Paint and Sip Looks Like at Purple Easel

You bring beverages (BYOB — wine, beer, anything you like) and snacks. We supply the canvas, paint, brushes, easels, aprons, and an instructor who walks the whole room through the painting step by step. 2-3 hours, and you leave with a finished canvas.

No art experience needed. Most painters are first-timers. The instructor’s job is to keep everyone painting at the same pace so nobody falls behind or gets bored ahead.

Types of Events

  • Public paint nights — different painting each event, calendar updated monthly
  • Three-hour paintings — more detailed work for $45
  • Kids paintings — 90-minute format, weekends and school breaks
  • Neon Nights — UV-reactive paint, themed events that sell out
  • Paint Your Pet — custom portraits from a photo you bring
  • Private parties — bridal showers, birthdays, corporate, school events

See the current calendar for what’s coming up.

Private Parties for Redlands Groups

If you’re organizing a group event for a Redlands occasion (bridal shower, work party, school event, milestone birthday), you have two options:

  • At our Ontario studio: 10-person minimum, $39-45 per guest depending on painting type
  • Away event at your venue in Redlands: 15-person minimum, $4/mile from Ontario studio (Redlands is roughly $100 round-trip in mileage)

Email reservations@purpleeasel.com for a quote. More on private events here.

Practical Tips for the Drive

  • Reserve seats online ahead of time — weekend evenings fill
  • Plan for 45 min total travel buffer to account for IE traffic
  • Bring a designated driver if you plan to drink — BYOB and 35 minute drive home
  • Wear something paint-friendly even though we provide aprons

Browse the current calendar and reserve your seat.
